Drama in the Dog Department

Warning: This post is not for the faint of heart. Do not read if you have tendencies to puke at the mention of bodily functions.

If you know my "Little Nick" then you know he is my Trouble with a Capital T. He is so stinkin' mischievious. A few months ago we found Nick in the outdoor fridge opening all my butter cubes and sticking them various places. I'm not shocked and laugh his little craziness off. He is always into everything. There are no boundries for his little mind.
So I'm beginning to wonder if he has some butter fettish. Today he takes a cube of butter that I have been softening on the counter, and proceeds to smash it in his hands and rub it on his clothes. Then so quietly heads outside to find the big bros. Carter comes running in saying "Nick has Icing all over him". Further investigation I find the butter all over the kichen floor. I also find a chewed up wrapper. So either the dog or Nick found the butter tastey. Silently hoping it wasn't the dog.
About one hour later I am putting the kids in bed downstairs, and laying out clothes. I say my goodnights and exit the door to the family room. I am overcome with this aweful, nose-hair curling, smell. It's worse than the dump smell that I'm so use to every night. I'm overcome with the nausea and yet I know I need to investigate further. Nick and AJ are running into the living room for the couch when I scream "DON'T MOVE". I have spotted a dumping ground on the floor that my "little" dog left. Only the dump isn't so little. It's a big old pile of Diarhea. And it's not contained to just this spot. The kids are pointing out diarhea all over the basement. OH...I totally forgot to mention that Brian is at an Elder's quorum party and won't be home for another hour.
I tried my best to contain my love and devotion to my dog for his gifts.
The violent bouts of nausea while cleaning up some seriously nasty crap can not be described by any author. I cleaned for what seemed like a good hour. (Time goes slow when your dealing with dog crap). The wood floor, the carpet, .... it seems when you need to go comfort is not always of high importance.
So I figure the dog must have loved the butter. I'm not so sure how much he ate and how much was on Nick, but I guess that's not what's really important. What's really important is that I made it through the disaster without killing anyone. Infact I would say that I stayed realitively calm. And now the dog is outside where dogs belong. (Until Carter finds him and has pitty on him).

Oh my gosh, Melissa. I am so sorry! But I have to say, I am laughing at the same time.(sorry!)
I remember when we got our new carpet in the basement, we all sat and admired it when our cat came up and threw up right on the new carpet. We all stood there, saying: "That did not just happen!" But it did, and we cleaned it up without killing the cat!

Oh, Melissa that is so funny in a I'm-so-sorry-for-you kind of way! I've been there though!
Tyler and I were asleep one night not too many weeks ago, and I started dreaming about this horrible smell, and I woke up thinking, "oh my gosh, it's real!!!" And I looked over on the carpet on Ty's side of the bed (as he's just waking up from the smell too) and there's a pile (just think what a 65 lb. dog can do, if your little 5 lb. dog can do THAT).
I had to think HOW on EARTH I would clean it up. I ended up getting two cereal boxes out of the recycling bin and did some scraping. The dry heaving was unbearable.
But, I'm sorry, yours was worse (we only had one pile). I'm proud of you for keeping the dog :) That's the hard part!
